Safety first! Safety is top priority at Exertis Amacom

At Exertis Amacom, safety is central to our daily operations. As an organisation, we do everything in our power to create and maintain a safe workplace for our employees, visitors, and other stakeholders. This is not only an obligation but a culture we continuously promote, embrace, and strengthen. We constantly invest in safety, including appointing emergency response officers (BHV’ers) and conducting Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E). But we do much more! We are happy to share a few measures we take (and have taken) to ensure safety and the steps we continue to take to maintain a safe working environment.

Emergency Response - Emergency Response Officers (BHV)

At Exertis Amacom, we have appointed various emergency response officers (BHV’ers). These employees are specially trained to react quickly and effectively in emergency situations. They play a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment and are trained in evacuation procedures, alerting emergency services, and providing first aid. These emergency response officers not only contribute to physical safety in the workplace but are also important for creating a sense of security for everyone in the building.

Warehouses - Safety in the Workplace

At Exertis Amacom, a Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E) report has been created, in which we map the potential risks that may be present in the workplace. This report is an essential tool to identify potential hazards in time and take preventive measures. The RI&E report forms the basis for an action plan, and the identified action points are followed up by our employees.

In addition, it’s not just about documenting risks, but also the continuous improvement of our working conditions. For example, we periodically review whether there is room for optimization, such as adjusting pallet stacking heights, improving walkways in the warehouses, and placing clear signage and indications. Our warehouses are equipped with safe footpaths and clear markings, ensuring that employees can always move through the warehouse safely and in an organized manner.

Diverse Roles

Within our organisation, there are several employees who actively contribute to safety. They play an essential role in continually looking for ways to improve safety. These employees regularly consult with various departments to identify risks and implement appropriate measures. Furthermore, a broader perspective on health, safety, and environmental aspects is considered within the organisation.

Documentation

A crucial part of our safety strategy is documenting incidents, both major and minor. By accurately recording near misses (close calls), we can identify risks early, take action, and attempt to prevent future incidents. Employees are actively encouraged to report near misses and other safety-related observations. This data helps us to make deeper analyses and take appropriate preventive measures.

Toolbox Meetings and Safety Task Force

Periodically, our warehouse team organizes toolbox meetings, focusing on safety and improvement points. Additionally, we have a Safety Task Force consisting of employees from various departments to create optimal support within the organisation. The Safety Task Force plays an essential role in promoting safety in the workplace. This team collaborates to identify potential hazards, develop safety protocols, perform regular inspections, and train employees where necessary. This ensures that safety remains a shared responsibility.

Continuous Development

At Exertis Amacom, we continue to look for ways to make our organisation even safer. We are happy to seek advice from external experts and actively listen to the recommendations of our colleagues. We encourage them to share their ideas and suggestions on how we can further optimize our workplace. We have even established a reward system, where employees who make a significant contribution to Health & Safety are rewarded monthly. This not only encourages safety but also fosters a culture of proactive action.

Safety First Policy

We remain fully committed to a safe workplace for everyone involved with Exertis Amacom. We continue to invest in improvements, training, and awareness. We want every employee to feel safe and contribute to an environment where safety, health, and well-being are always a priority!

In Memoriam

Although we continuously work to improve our safety measures, a tragic fatal workplace accident occurred on May 1, 2023, in one of our warehouses. This loss left a deep impact on the organisation and has further strengthened our commitment to prioritizing safety in the future. The affected employee and their family remain in our thoughts.
